A Scientific Kind of Thanksgiving!
Over Thanksgiving, my boyfriend Emir and I always travel from Atlanta to upstate NY to spend the holiday with his family... and Leila is just a little ray of sunshine that fills the house from morning till night. She is someting special, friends. I mean, just look at her! ❤️
And as with most uncles in town to shower their little neices & nephews with gifts, the talk of TOYS began almost immediately.... and it's precious.
You all know me... I absolutely luhvvv a brain-friendly toy. So this year, Project Mc2 dolls, projects, & shows were the direction I tried to convince little Leila to take as we planned for our toy trip to "Targét" (as I had her calling it by the end of the weekend). And it worked! First up was Adrienne Atom, the culinary chemist from Spain who comes ready to party with her own safety goggles, dropper, & volcano experiement! And PS- the volcano is reuseable. Trust me. We watched the chemical recation erupt out of it's vent about 20x in three days.
Adrienne and her volcano were nothing short of a HIT... seriously, when I say we made that volcano erupt 20x, I'm not exagerrating. This new found obsession led to the Project Mc2 show on Netflix, of course. And like a little ninja, she spotted the robot in the show that was next to Adrienne in Target.
So... back to "Targét" we went for the build-your-own Project Mc2 Soda Can Robot.
There's SO much to be gained from these brain-friendly toys for your little girls (& boys). Not only did I get the chance to expalin chemical reactions & design intent to her, but we learned to spell words like science & art, and got her to fall in love with a show that displays young girls as smart, ambitious, role models! Leila was yelling "I love science!" by the end of the weekend. No kidding. I could have died happy. One girl, on the STEAM side of life. For the win!
The Project Mc2 weekend was a hit, as weekends always are with my boyfirend's family, and so was the quality time I got to spend with this little lovebug. Thank you Adrienne Atom & Project Mc2!
And yes... Leila insisted on wearing her glasses to match Adrienne.
